Peeta Mellark - Hunger Games

This guy ROCKS! (and he literally is for awhile). He's such a sweetie. Blond hair falling over his eyes. Clear and determined blue eyes. Strong warm arms that can fight but also with fingers delicate enough put frosting on a cake. Imagine what those hands can do on a girl... hmmm... I think majority of the girls who fall for Peeta think about this subconciously. Interesting for the author to make him into a baker/painter.

Being a baker/painter also means, he pays great attention to detail and does not get caught up in the moment, but instead takes the moment in, and fully reflect on its significance later. This is not only expressed in his painting and also in the type of bread that he bakes, in the decoration he chooses. Always nurturing and appropriate for the moment. I mean, how many real boys/men are out there who thinks about anyone else but themselves?? Most are so oblivious and only respond to the most blatant of visual simulates. No wonder I love this character. He is able to see what others don't and for some girls who don't put everything on display, this sensitively is a very appealing. And Peeta is sensitive.

I love the way he always puts everyone else's feelings before himself. Before you can think of it, he's thought about the situation and is leaps and bounds ahead of you. Katniss only realizes what he's already thought about somewhere in Book2 and 3. I wish I knew what he does when he returns to his room when on the train. Or know what he thinks about Katniss when he looks at her while she's doing her thing. I think there needs to be another story of the Hunger Games from his point of view.

What is Peeta's greatest attraction is his loyalty. Loyalty despite not having things go his way, loyal despite knowing the girl that he loves love another. The sweet suffering of unrequited love is always appealing to the audience. The secret sacrifices made that are known to no one expect himself and God. Lying to protect others, yet indignant when others do the same for him. All the traits of an unwilling hero.

Just like Katniss, he is unable to see and understand his gifts. He doesn't understand what a pivotal role he has in other people's lives. Yet he rises to the occasion at the most critical moments.

I love him because he is a protector, someone who looks out for you and is somehow inspired by you. He will always have his eyes on you and to watch them light up when they meet yours is a wonderful feeling. I think many people would want to feel appreciated, to see and accept that they can have this affect on their loved ones. Most people are always looking out for the next new thing. But he is someone who reaches out for you in his sleep, and who complements his partners capabilities and strengthens her weaknesses. That doesn't mean he can't live his own life! I mean Peeta has his own hobbies and his own thing to do. He can lead his own life and yet, you know who he is loyal to without ever having to doubt if he still loves you as much as he did the first day you fell in love.

He doesn't rush you into loving him. He waits until you reach the conclusion on your own. He doesn't require you to return his love just because he has those feelings. He wants it to be real. And yes, its 'Real'.
Nothing simulates the creative juices like an emotional situation. It really gets you thinking about all your past, present and future situations and you wind up still on the floor needing to speak to someone. So, with the current scenario, I would like to talk about all the boys (fiction and non-fiction) that I've loved before - much like the Julio Iglesias song, only that most traveled within the safe perimeters of my mind.
